Life as a Biggest Loser - Grand Finale

Final Pink Team Challenge:
Run 1/2 mile downhill -
Push Suburban with Trainer perched on roof, UPHILL back from whence you came...

I'm not going to lie - it was hard.  BUT - it was also fun.  I know - sick, right?  There is something to be said for teamwork in action though.

So many lessons learned on this little 12-week journey.  16 pounds gone - that's good.  Cannot even begin to explain how much better I feel.  But, it's not just the weight loss.  In fact, that's just an nice bonus.

When I started this journey - I had three goals in mind:
1) Improve my health to reduce risk for stroke and heart disease (lovely family heritage)
2) Figure out how to incorporate exercise into an already jam-packed schedule.
3) Lose weight

One lesson I learned was that there is a difference between "I can't" and "I choose not to".  Too often, I have said "I can't" when I really meant, "I choose not to".  In learning to set boundaries, it is important to distinguish between the two.  The other side of that coin is the many times we fulfill our own prophecy.  We say we can't and in turn, predict our reality.  Henry Ford once said, "Whether you think you can or think you can't, either way you are right."  So true.

Another lesson learned is that we do not all have the same priorities - and that's ok.  What I choose to do or not do, however, is based on my priorities. Occassionally, this causes conflict.  Conflict is ok.  Sometimes, it's even healthy!

As a person who lives with too little margin in her life (you know, that extra time that allows for the unexpected or some spontaneity) - I'm realizing how unhealthy my overly scheduled lifestyle really is.  Adding in exercise has been more than taxing on my schedule.  That being said, it has been so worth the battle to make it happen.

Two things that ease the pain for me... positive people and good music.  Tremendously thankful for both!
